In 1994,
Sunshine Allison recorded two songs for a local compilation
of Madison bands entitled "Inner Circle of the Elks Head".
This compilation would meet with local acclaim, although many
of other the bands featured on it would not last through the
year of 1995. In this way, Sunshine Allison has come to
represent a golden age of Madison music from the early 90's.
Since then, Sunshine Allison has shown a determination
that has brought them before devoted crowds in Wisconsin, Iowa,
Minnesota and Illinois. It was immediately prior to this recording
in 1994 that Robert Schoville joined the band, the last member
to join the line-up. In 1996, Sunshine Allison recorded
Rise, their debut full-length recording that was
deemed 4th Best Local Release for 1996 by The Wisconsin
State Journal (see Rise info). The
years of 1996 and 1997 would bring Sunshine Allison to
such clubs as the Cubby Bear in Chicago and First Avenue
in Minneapolis, and swell the mailing list to well over a thousand
names. Trimmed to a proud and tight three-piece, Sunshine
Allison delivered a follow-up album to Rise,
entitled Eastside. Released at The Pub in Madison
on October 1st, 1998, Eastside has been gaining
momentum ever since. The trio of Sunshine Allison incorporate
many separate influences from around the globe and offer Eastside
as a truly different kind of rock production. |

Krister
Tidics
is the lead singer and main songwriter, playing both guitar and
keyboards alternately. His technique on guitar is mostly blues-influenced,
while his keyboard playing style might best be compared to the
acid-jazz of John Medeski: thick Rhodes piano and a mellow Hammond
organ sound. The arrangements are smart and generally short,
the focus being mainly on Tidics' melodic baritone.
Carl
Remde
sings back-up and plays both fretless and six-string basses.
His style ranges from fast arpeggios and jazz tones reminiscent
of the late Jaco Pastorius, to more ostenato lines and slaps
that follow the bass drum closely for more of a funk sound. He
and Robert together form a powerful rhythm section.
Robert
Schoville
was trained as a drummer in Madison since grade-school, playing
on tour a few years with the nationally recognized Madison Drum
Corps. His drumming is renowned throughout the Midwest, and he
is always in demand as a session player. At 32, he is the oldest
member of Sunshine Allison and brings over 10 years experience
as a professional drummer to the mix. |

Sunshine

have developed some truly expressive and original material that
encompasses the sound of both a fully electric funk machine and
an acoustic song-bird's cage. Eastside, features
